Here is a few examples from today’s “Do Now” assignment. Lots of thoughtful responses and I thought I’d share a few.

The directions were to complete the sentence “My favorite memory in chorus so far this year….”

Here are some responses by a few of my middle school chorus students:

My favorite memory in chorus so far this year was….

  • Hanging out with my friends and learning new songs.
  • Going to the parade to sing ASU Dynamite and going to concerts.
  • When we had cookies and got to practice on stage.
  • Singing Mean Girls at our last concert because we sang with a lot of power and I think our message was definitely heard.
  • When we went to the concert and sang and my family came out and supported me. My favorite song was without you by Usher.
  • Singing songs for anti-bullying and when we went to ASU!
  • Watching the bloopers from our winter concert.
  • When we sang in the courtyard.
  • Having my aunt, my, and dad see my sing my first solo!
  • Watching a video of our performance and eating cookies.
  • My favorite memory was when we had our last concert and sang “World” and all the pictures were on the screen.
  • Meeting new people.
  • Eating pizza before our concert with the Phoenix Symphony.
  • When me and my friends performed Gangnam style for the class during open mic.
  • Performing with the choir.
  • I don’t have a favorite memory because it was always fun.
  • All the smiles at the concert and how proud my family was for me.
  • Singing ASU Dynamite!
  • Seeing my music teacher, Mrs. Ramsey – she is funny and a great music teacher for me.
  • Our last performance because everyone was so committed and very determined to perform.

There were so many more thoughtful responses…wow, I’m such a lucky teacher to have such great students. And no, I didn’t bribe the student who wrote the comment about me….hehe.

Well, next on our calendar is preparing for the MLK Youth Rally. The kids are excited and so bummed that we are only doing 2 songs. I love that excitement. It’s going to be a great next few weeks as we get prepared. Be sure to check back for updates.

Keep groovin’,

Mrs. Ramsey
